Today we continue with part six of our six-part series, 30 Powerful Ways to Spring Clean Your Business. If you missed the first five installments, you can find them here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4 and Part 5.
This series is inspired by my CEO Fast Track guide, which you can find here, where I lay out the 6 core CEO disciplines required to move beyond the busywork, and find time to work ON not just IN your business.
In this episode, we’re going to be talking about the sixth and final discipline – Systems & Processes.
Last, but definitely not least, is creating systems, processes, and templates to make your business run more efficiently. As small business owners, we simply do not have time to waste reinventing the wheel over and over again.
One of the best uses of your time is to create processes and systems you can replicate over and over again with little effort. Creating these go-to systems also makes it easier for someone to come in and do this work for you with minimal disruption. You can then look to hire team members that can execute on your systems.
Once you’ve developed systems and processes, you can begin to optimize those through automation. This enables you to impact your clients, customers, and audience without you having to manually engage in every step. This should be the goal of every CEO as it frees you up to spend time engaged in more growth and revenue generating activities, and ensures the business can operate regardless of you being present.
So let’s identify five key activities you could do with this sixth CEO Discipline, to spring clean your business. This list is not exhaustive but will get you headed in the right direction.
Important note: As I said in the last episode, If you’re listening to this in a different season, don’t discount these ideas. While we’re maximizing the energy of spring, these can be accomplished any time of year.
- Conduct an audit of your existing systems and process for gaps, redundancies or relevance
- Create working templates of all of your repetitive tasks
- Review your technology tools and consider adding or subtracting
- Review your policies and terms of use
- Clean your digital files and develop a system for storage

These are my five strategies to spring clean in the CEO Discipline of Systems & Processes. Thanks for listening in on this six-part series. I hope you’ve taken even a few of these ideas back into your business to clear the cobwebs and position you for greater growth in the second half of 2017.
